Unscrupulous Tarot Readers
As pointed out in a previous article, there are several kinds of Tarot Readers. Nowadays they even aren't necessarily human anymore.
At first sight one can identify:
" Intuitive Tarot readers: these use and have confidence in their intuition
" Formal Tarot Readers: they interpret the cards "from the book"
" On line readings: computer programs that are in the best case made by at least a formal Tarot Reader.
But there is also the "bad type". This are the people without a conscience.
Unscrupulous Tarot Readers
I don't like to use the word "bad". But I think here it is justified.
This are the people who only want one thing: personal profit. They don't care about you.
There are many ways those kind of people will cheat you. One way is that they will, in a subtle way, ask you questions so that they know what you would like to hear. And that will be the result of their reading.
This technique is called "cold reading". Wikipedia has an interesting article on that subject. You can read it by clicking here: cold reading.
Another technique used by unscrupulous Tarot Readers, consists of making you uncertain or even afraid.
They play on the fact that most uncertain people can be easily manipulated. They will use that to make you ask for a new reading very fast... too fast. Or to make you buy a variety of "gadgets" that you don't need.
Perhaps you start with the idea that you want to spend $50 or $100 for a Tarot Reading. But a year later it might have cost you several 1000's of dollars.
I remember an extreme sad case a woman told me a couple of years ago. She lived alone with her 10 years old son. She was not very rich but she wanted her son to have a better live than she had. She was janitor in an apartment building. One day the woman decided to consult a Tarot reader. The man came at her place and did the reading. His conclusion was that her son would die in an accident in the next year. But he could do something about it. Only for that he had to visit a monastery in Nepal. The cost would be $10,000. Of course the woman was very afraid. Her son was everything for her, but she didn't have that money. Perhaps she could go to the bank and ask for a loan… Fortunately the woman had a strong mind. She decided to consult another reader. And that was me. After she told me that story I didn't even do a reading. I could convince the woman that that guy was a crook.
This is of course an extreme example. But it happened. And believe me, people like that still exist
