Books on Tarot

Below are a few books that helped me a lot. For each book I added a link to Amazon. There you'll find reviews of other readers.

Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom: A Book of Tarot (by Rachel Pollack)

Top tarotist Rachel Pollack explains the secrets to personal growth with every card of the tarot deck. The two volumes that make the Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom have inspired a whole generation of students of the knowledge of tarot. The book has frequently been described by readers, booksellers, and teachers as the "Bible of tarot readers", the standard work of tarot. It helped to start the "Tarot Renaissance" of the 1980s.
The two writings, one handling on The Major Arcana and one on The Minor Arcana, show up together in 1 volume in this edition, which is a reissue of the edition of 1998 that was first published by Thorsons.
Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom pays attention to mythology and esoteric traditions and delves deeply in the symbolism and ideas of each and every card. In addition, it provides the cards a contemporary psychological slant using the images as opposed to a system of occult symbolism.
This tremendously effective reference guide also offers a succinct history of tarot, introduces widespread spreads. It is a straightforward and readable book that will help both beginning and advanced tarot students.

Tarot for Your Self : A Workbook for Personal Transformation (by Mary K. Greer)

This is another tarot classic. It is the first book That explores the concept of reading the cards for personal insight, in other words: for yourself. The book includes detailed instructions how to do that. The book guides you to establish your own relationship with the cards.
